Our coat drive with One Warm Coat has ended and, boy oh boy, was this a success! I am truly in awe of our community and your willingness to make a difference in people's lives.
Shelter from the elements is a basic human need along with nourishing food, drinkable water, and a safe place to sleep. When low-income households spend more than half their income on housing, they have little, if any, money to spend on other necessities, such as food, childcare, transportation, and healthcare.
One Warm Coat...
Believes in the basic right to protection from the cold.
Provides coats to people in need, free of charge and without discrimination or obligation.
Treats the people we serve with dignity and respect.
Promotes sustainability through the reuse and repurposing of outerwear.
Creates connections in local communities by fostering volunteerism.
Appreciates and honors our volunteers and donors.
And, so do we!
Now that we've received, counted and delivered all the coats, scarves, gloves, sweaters and hats to the local distribution location, we are happy to report 212 items were collected! What I love is that the items were delivered to folks in need here in the East Bay.
