Whether you are relocating from out of the area or around the corner, I trust this information about Walnut Creek will be valuable in helping you make informed decisions about your move.

Spring break time is upon us and we have a great many things going on at Northgate High School that continue to improve the quality of the school. As you know, Northgate is one of the best high schools in the state and I believe it has the potential to be one of the greatest in the country. In the past four years we have raised our test scores in every area, SAT, ACT, STAR, CAHSEE. We continue to send students to some of the finest schools in the country, we have doubled the number of Advanced Placement courses offered and tests taken, and we recently added an engineering academy at Northgate with courses in introductory and advanced principles of engineering. In addition, we have recently used Measure C Bond money to upgrade our facility including the engineering academy adding state of the art computers loaded with engineering software, and advanced modeling equipment to produce state of the art 3D Models.

Walnut Creek Soccer Club Finished Another Successful Try-Out!

Our club just concluded the clinics and tryouts for our players ages U8 thru U14. We had over 600 players register for tryouts, which was an increase of over 15competitive tryouts% in the number of players registered from 2011. Some age groups had as many as 75 players interested in playing for a team in their age group for WCSC. In 2011 we were able to field 28 teams in our younger age groups. In 2012 this number is increasing to 31! We also have strong interest in our U8 Academy on the boys side of the club, and will be running this program for the 2nd consecutive year. Here, we have over 20 players signed up and ready to work with our professional coaching staff on learning 'the beautiful game'.

The process of running tryouts and team formation takes a great deal of work. Thank you to all the volunteers who give their time to make sure parents have all the information they need online, players are registered and checked in at the tryouts, equipment is at the field ready to go, and the evaluating staff has everything it needs to help put teams together.

It was a great start to 2012. Now on to the U15-U19 tryouts which were we expect to have the same success.
